Colorado citizens have collected enough signatures to place the Colorado Promise Scholarship on the ballot this November. The scholarship will be funded by closing a tax loophole that gives oil and gas drillers a break in taxes. According to supporters of the measure, the money generated from closing the loophole would double student financial aid. The measure currently has support from the governor
The scholarship will be aimed for students whose family makes less than $100,000 a year. Awards would be around $2,000 to $6,000 to study at any public institution in the state. The vote on the measure will be on election day, November 4th, so if you're a Colorado resident who is 18 by election day you can register to vote. You can download the form to register here and remember to vote on election day. There's also that Presidential election going on too.
